character model sheet research

bugs bunny

Gives advice about height and line of action for the character, shows some expressions/emotions, as well as a turnaround of the head. But does not include a turnaround of the body, only different poses. Furthermore it also shows a comparison between the pencil drawings and the final inked outlines.

invaderzim

Shows a 2D and a 3D comparison of the same character and textures used on the 3D character. Some of the detail on the 3D model are not as visible as they are on the 2D model, such as folds/seams/outlines on the uniform.

gravity falls

Shows how various expressions are made by having some characters with constructions lines, and includes a turn around of the characters. Only rough models are shown and no further developments.

knight girl

This is a 3D render character model sheet,  it shows 3 action poses, includes an untextured t-pose of the character and a 3D rendition of a prop that the character uses, however there are no facial expressions for the character.

robot

A sketched character design, although not t-pose the legs are straight and the arms are detached on the side view. There is little detail about the back of the character and an improvement that i can suggest for this model can be a 3D model with turnaround and textures.

steven universe

Although this is not a t-pose or character model sheet I have chose to include this because it is a good tip of using sticky notes on planning what/how to do different expressions/positions.

rick

180 turnaround of character, uses transparency on some clothes to show consistency in the turnaround, by showing the placement of the legs, and shows a height comparison with another character. Difficult to see the character turnaround with the arms like an optical illusion, in my opinion it looks like the arms don’t move in the first 2 or 3 views of the turnaround.

0

Shows stages of development such as rough drawings and 3D modelling, also includes notes about parts of the character such as about the snake eyes visor. Does not show the inspiration for the character which is included in a book that was sold with a collectors’ edition of the game.

avatar

Includes notes about the equipment the character uses, such as a size comparison of a sword to the character, but there is no t-pose of character.

bighero6

Shows a turnaround of character that is not entirely symmetrical, for example the head and shoulders are slightly tilted, however a bad point of this example is that there is no t-pose for the character.

stitch

Turnaround of the character with how many head tall it is and includes a note on how to draw the ears. Does not include a t-pose, development or construction lines.

bart

This shows what the character is based on, shows the back and front of the original character and includes notes about key points of the character referenced.

new grove

Shows turnaround for multiple characters as well as added detail for some of the characters, for example the different markings on the lamas. A negative about this example is that there is no t-pose for the characters.

ratchet

Shows a t-pose of character with arms/ears detached and legs straight on the side view, and includes top and bottom view of the hands. However it only shows one view of the weapon so it would be difficult to create a 3D model of it.

daxter

A 3D render of character, includes texture and digital bones/joints (seen in spine, hands and legs…), but does not show a turnaround of the character.
